Tips for visiting Duomo Milan

  • The Duomo Milan Rooftop is a great place to watch the sunset, however, the last admission to the rooftop is 50 minutes before closing time. Make sure you time your visit well so you get to explore the rooftop as well as watch the sunset over the city.
  • Visitors are not allowed to walk on the terraces barefoot hence it is suggested to wear comfortable walking shoes. There are narrow and steep sections on the terraces and if you are wearing high heels or other uncomfortable shoes you don’t have the option of taking them off and walking.
  • The stairs to the terraces are narrow and it is best to take the elevator up to the terraces of the Milan Duomo.
  • Go and explore the terraces first and use the elevator to get directly into the cathedral. This way you don’t have to wait in line on the street twice.
